This Painting Exercise is Surprisingly Worth Your Time
I like your delicate and calm colors. Very nice !
Get over yourself
Beautiful painting! I love your loose style.
This is a very helpful video. I find you, your videos and your paintings very inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing! I subscribed!
The difference between musicians using their craft/art to perfect their reproductions as opposed to visual artists using their craft/art ONLY to be innovative is IMPRESSIVELY PENETRATING. I suspect the dichotomy comes from the legacy of Romanticism.
What camera gear do you use
I thought it was a master copy. It's so masterful.
Beautiful painting, Chelsea!
Thanks for the video, the finished background reminds me the works of Richard Schmid (Alla Prima II) which is something I want to learn one day, it was good to see a similar process on camera :-) a tip for water-mixable oil fans: Schmincke has a medium called Norma Painting Medium Blue, so far it gave me the best results (as in: most similar to traditional oils thinned with OMS) from all the water-soluble thinner replacements I tried
It's interesting seeing this painting progressing and your different approach to your original version. Looking forward to part two.
Wow I am in awe of this painting. It’s so inspiring and beautiful. 🙏 thank you for sharing it.❤
what are you using to make the oil paint so loose?
you should make a gameshow on your channel, just saying
I like this painting i watched the video when you talked how you became a full time artist.like your style❤
when I clean my brushes , I always use a lice comb. It works wonders.
You can use a comb used for lice removal!
The chair overwhelms the subject.
The clouds look like they are exploding out of the tree. LOVE your color palette.
I’m loving your videos…broke my wrist and put down my paints yet you inspire me, so yay! Do you know Mad Charcoal? Different materials but kindred philosophies.
From the images you showed, it's interesting that you tried so many poses yet the camera always looked at the chair from the same position.
Can you use the murphy’s soap after every painting session? Also, how do you get the murphy’s soap off the bristles… is it okay to rinse in the sink after using a paper towel to get the majority of it off? Thanks!!
I am very new to painting but I have spent decades working wood. I don't know if you still use this method as the video is 4 years old. I would suggest using a polyurethane glue " Gorilla" or something similar instead of PVA for a better adhesion. Also, if you use PVA glue it is heat activated so if your ends are not completely bonded after the first clamping you can use a regular household iron to reactivate that glue on the ends or anywhere you may find a bubble that did not adhere, I've done this many times with thin wood veneer. If you get any bleeding through the canvas, I believe the oil paint will adhere better to the polyurethan glue than the PVA. I would suggest trying the polyurethane on a small panel to see if you like the results as it has totally different properties when gluing. I love all your videos and am totally grateful for your insight and the time you spend to teach us newbies, Thank You!!
It's incredible
Thank you, elegant woman...the lesson is useful. ...and the presentation method is excellent
Use large brushes and a minimum pallet.
thanks for your video. I'd add a tube wringer to the list, a great tool, but only all metal, not plastic
Chelsea, Where can i purchase this easel?
Why not paint from life?
It's a fantastic option, but it can be really tricky when you want to capture organic moments that children will have a hard time holding! Same thing goes for animals. Though with adults, this can be great, provided that you're able to pay the model for their time, or your sitter is able to pose for long periods.
I really dislike your video titles because they're negative towards your viewers. A better way to title this video would have been, "How to plan your paintings before you start" or something like that.
Moreover, the title suggests a whole lot more than was given in this video.
Ok makes some videos and do better 😊
@@paintingsofwaves_mikewoning yeah that too! Her art hasn't been great and flawless like it was a few years ago. She seems to be struggling but she wants us to feel like we are doing everything wrong. 🙄
@@AyaSmith 🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful painting Chelsea. I look forward to adapting these habits to begin painting looser. Bet it will take more than one or two tries!
What camera do you use or recommend? What about an iPhone camera?
So very helpful. Self taught painter of 26 years here, finally letting go of the idea of trying to paint my own way. Realizing I was stifling my own creativity. Not allowing myself to take what I can from those artists I love was detrimental to my own satisfaction as an artirst.
Yes, PLEASE do the "Master Copy" video!!!!
I love hearing about all the different processes, its fascinating ☺☺
Thank you very much, Chelsea, awesome💖
Thank you so much for walking us through your process here --showing your editing choices/how to, at this level, is invaluable and inspiring and generous. Thanks again.
Absolutely love the way you paint. And what you said at the end was definitely what I needed to hear. Thanks!
How do i find part 2?
Where are you from i am from india
Lovely work, i cannot believe you did this so quickly😊
It wasn't clear what you were doing at the end and how it matched up with what you were saying when you dipped the large brush into the clear liquid and gentle brushed it across the whole painting. What was in the clear mixture? How long had the painting been allowed to dry before you did this step? Any further explanation would be appreciated.
A quality paint makes all the difference in the world.
Great!
Thank you for sharing this experience. The information you provided while painting is wonderful; and I took notes. It's absolutely beautiful.
Pięknie! Lekko i precyzyjnie! Pozdrawiam
Always good content Chelsea 👍🏻
I too, like some of your advice. But we need actual encouragement to pursue our online artistic goals along with much how to advice!!
❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutey gorgeous painting! Good advice too.
I am glad to see this video as when I called an supplier of aluminum panels, he said the ph neutral glue (I use the same one as you) won’t penetrate the surface of the aluminum and there won’t be a bond. Your video seems to show otherwise. How often do you get air bubbles inside your panels?
